Dataset on the spent filter backwash water treatment by sedimentation, coagulation and ultra filtration

Abstract: During operation of most water treatment plants, spent filter backwash water (SFBW) is generated, which accounts about 2–10% of the total plant production. By increasing world population and water shortage in many countries, SFBW can be used as a permanent water source until the water treatment plant is working. This data article reports the practical method being used for water reuse from SFBW through different method including pre-sedimentation, coagulation and flocculation, second clarification, ultra filtr… Show more

“…In this work the removal of Al from water was carried out by raw GAC (supplied by the Merck Company) and modified GAC by FeCl 3 under basic pH condition (BGAC). Some wastewater like spent filter backwash water from water treatment plant was discharged to surface or groundwater without any treatment and it was endangered soil, water body and environment [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] . So it was necessary for all water treatment plants that treat their wastewater before entering to environment.…”

“…In Quang Ninh coal mines, there are two forms of exploitation: underground and open-pit mining, production is mainly pit mining, but during the extraction process, wastewater is one of the alarming environmental pollutants. The search for and choice of a solution to recirculate mine wastewater treatment for daily life and production is an important, urgent and appropriate factor that saves water resources and environmental protection [5]. When wastewater is used efficiently and sustainably, it will help improve the quality of the environment, reduce production costs without the need to buy water for domestic use, saving resources, increasing public income, creating a premise for the sustainable development of the coal industry in particular and the country's economy in general [6].…”
