Data management support for asynchronous groupware

Abstract: In asynchronous collaborative applications, users usually collaborate accessing and modifying shared information independently. We have designed and implemented a replicated object store to support such applications in distributed environments that include mobile computers. Unlike most data management systems, awareness support is integrated in the system. To improve the chance for new contributions, the system provides high data availability. The development of applications is supported by an object framework… Show more

“…Different strategies can be used in different applications, either relying on explicit notification, using a shared feedback approach [11], or combining both styles. Further details on the requirements and design choices for asynchronous groupware in mobile computing environments are presented elsewhere [33].…”

“…The result of this execution is tentative (showing the expected result) [13], as an update only affects the official state of a coobject when it is finally executed in the servers. To guarantee that all (server) replicas evolve in a consistent way and that users intentions are respected, different concurrency control/reconciliation components implementing different strategies may be used in the server (this problem is discussed extensively in [33]). …”

“…The group members of the team work cooperatively and International Conference on Recent Advances in Computer Systems (RACS 2015) coordinately to achieve the high productivity and quality [1]. So, all these aspects are integrated while we discuss about coauthoring platform where different team members work on a single document to make it effective and worthy.…”

“…To improve the contribution of individual authors, they must well aware about the activities of the whole group, the awareness is an important attribute of collaborative activities [1]. If we say awareness it means the individual should know about group activities which have been performed in past and present.…”
