Data interplay: A model to optimize data usage in the Internet of Things

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) has been playing an important role in the technology scenario due to its high potential and impact on different society segments. Estimates suggest a trend for an increase in the number of IoT devices connected to the Internet for the next few years. Hence, the volume of data produced by IoT devices will follow this growth perspective, and there will be a demand for systems that can process, store, and promote access to large amounts of data. The data collected from sensors in typi… Show more

“…As part of our future work, we aim to further develop our PDS-based solution [83] to address privacy issues in the context of Fog of Things [84] data [85]. We advocate for a user-centric approach, and assert that it can mitigate various privacy issues through an approach that enhances users' control while improving transparency, awareness, and trust.…”

“…Related to finding CPSs, current research tries to manage the high volume of data produced by the CPSs. For instance, in Reference 23, the authors propose a model to improve the performance of collecting, analyzing, and using the data produced by IoT devices. Our proposal advances the research of the data space domain by the mean of facilitating searching for similar devices and processing large amounts of devices.…”

“…Their methodology employed traditional machine learning algorithms to predict query performance, enhancing efficiency by reordering query plans. However, this technique fell short of fully harnessing the capabilities inherent in DL network models [ 4 ]. In a complementary endeavor, Vijayalakshmi and Karthika (2023) delved deeper into the optimization of IoT database queries, introducing a genetic algorithm-based approach.…”
