Abstract: <div>Abstract<p><b>Purpose:</b> Areca nut use is the major cause of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) in Southern Asians. Areca nut contains a high level of free copper ions. Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is a copper-activated enzyme critical for extracellular matrix organization.
