Data Extraction Algorithm for Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) to Estimate the Maximum Economic Damage of Buildings for Economic Impact Assessment of Floods in Flanders, Belgium

Abstract: Floods cause major disruptions to energy supply and transportation facilities and lead to significant impacts on the society, economy, and environment. As a result, there is a compelling need for resilience and adaptation against extreme flood events under a changing climate. An accurate focal priority analysis of how societies can adapt to these changing events can provide insight into practical solutions. Besides the social, ecological, and cultural impact assessments of floods, an accurate economic impact a… Show more

“…It can also handle multiple datasets that are linked to well-defined elements (e.g., the detailed characterization of sluices and gates, the part of a city linked to a specific energy infrastructure, the location of doors and windows in a building, etc.) [61]. The flood impact assessment tool (FLIAT) prototype is developed to calculate the socio-economic impact of floods combined with the disruption potential analysis of a society due to these floods.…”

“…Among them, the urban transportation system, as the skeleton of the city and the carrier of travel, is the most vulnerable bearing body in rainstorms and waterlogging [3]. In disaster management, an accurate focal priority analysis of how societies can adapt to these changing events can provide insight into practical solutions [4]. Therefore, we can improve the pertinence and effectiveness of meteorological service, and bring the benefits of meteorological service into full play to carry out an early warning service of urban waterlogging.…”
