Data acquisition and control system for large volume plasma device

Abstract: This article describes hardware and software solutions to a need which is comprised of (i) acquisition of a large volume of high speed data with multiple time scales, (ii) control of various operational parameters of device and diagnostics, and (iii) processing and management of the acquired data for a large volume plasma device. The solution relies on the base of a VXI bus and uses a standard PC with a Windows 98/NT operating system and C as the programming language. The system is networked with the existing … Show more

“…We traced the analog bandwidth of our DAQ prior to feeding the carrier to it. The response obtained was reasonably acceptable [27]. We gave an input of 450 mV RMS through the RF generator, which was shown by the VXI as 447 mV RMS and the corresponding peak-to-peak value was 633 mV at 1 kHz.…”

“…Finally, last in this sequence is the DAQ system. The DAQ system used is a VXI-based one [27]. This system enables us to resolve the signals obtained from the measurement of electric field using the dipole probe.…”

“…An inexpensive probe drive has allowed us to obtain one-dimensional variation of field parameters, but not topology of the field vectors. The data are acquired using a VXI-based data acquisition system [12]. Figure 2 shows temporal profiles of the collected current and the corresponding perturbed magnetic field B z at various axial locations from the antenna.…”

“…A 16 channel Guide User Interface (GUI) based VXI system capable of sampling rate of maximum 1 Gs=s is used for data acquisition. 29 Analysis platforms of Matlab TM and Origin TM are used for post processing and analysis of the acquired data. Fluctuations in plasma parameters are subjected to FFT techniques for analysis.…”
