Esclavages & Post-esclavages, 7 | 2022instances institutionnelles locales ou nationales, dans une économie touristique, concourt également à créer des situations paradoxales, où les mémoriaux musicaux disponibles localement ne sont pas mobilisés, voire au contraire presque rendus marginaux, alors même qu'ils préexistent à l'avènement de ces sites et parcours mémoriels officiels. C'est par exemple le cas au Bénin où, en marge du programme « Route de l'esclave 10 » développé par l'Unesco depuis les années 1990 (notamment à Ouidah)(Araujo 2012 ;Ciarcia 2016 ;Forte 2007), musicien•nes et danseur•euses ont investi la salsa comme un espace mémoriel afro-atlantique(Djebbari 2020 ;Kabir 2018). En (ré)activant par la musique et la danse les liens transatlantiques partagés notamment avec Cuba en raison de la traite esclavagiste, les salseros et salseras béninois•es font des pistes de danse un espace mémoriel alternatif, où leur corps devient un vecteur performatif d'incarnation et de transmission de cette mémoire.…”
