The textile industry in Indonesia is fascinating to study due to its essential role in the Indonesian economy and as a strategic sector for employment. While imported items continue to dominate raw material supply in this sector, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows will bring about externality effects on a firm’s efficiency. This current study examines the spillover effect of Foreign Direct Investment on firms’ technical efficiency in Indonesia’s convection industry (ISIC 14111). The study used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models to calculate technical efficiency scores for each firm in the convection sector from 2010 to 2013. Changes in productivity levels are projected to occur due to technical efficiency changes. The findings indicate that Foreign Direct Investment can positively affect changes in technical efficiency through capital-labor ratio, foreign ownership, and imported material.

This research was conducted with the aim of understanding 1) the effect of foreign investment on the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 2) the effect of domestic investment on the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 3) the effect of capital expenditure on the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 4) the effect of foreign investment on the gross domestic product in South Sulawesi Province; 5) the effect of domestic investment on the gross regional domestic product in South Sulawesi Province; 6) the effect of capital expenditure on the gross regional domestic product in South Sulawesi Province. This study uses secondary time series data from 2006 to 2021. The data is analyzed using the Eviews 10 application using the Error Correction Model to analyze short-term and long-term effects. The results of the study show that in the long run: 1) FDI has a positive and significant effect on the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 2) Domestic Investment has a positive and significant effect on the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 3) positive and significant capital expenditure for the processing industry in South Sulawesi Province; 4) FDI is positive and not significant to GRDP in South Sulawesi Province; 5) Domestic Investment has a positive and significant effect on GRDP in South Sulawesi Province; 6) capital expenditure has a positive and significant effect on GRDP in South Sulawesi Province. That means that the role of the government, private sector, and society is needed to increase income goods from side production and economic spending. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has become a pivotal element in Indonesia's development over the past few decades. The presence of foreign capital in Indonesia has made a significant contribution to economic growth, yet it has also been accompanied by a range of issues and challenges that need to be addressed. This article aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of FDI on Indonesia's economic growth and elaborate on the issues that arise within the context of socio-legal. This study combines qualitative and quantitative approaches to analyze the impact of FDI across various socio-legal context, mainly economics, sociological, and legal aspects. The research findings indicate that FDI has played a pivotal role in accelerating Indonesia's economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and transferring technology. However, these positive impacts are counterbalanced by issues such as income inequality, shifts in social dynamics, and legal and regulatory concerns. The article also outlines several prospects that can guide future policy development. These include enhancing cooperation between the government and foreign investors, improving workers' rights protection, and increasing transparency and efficiency in FDI licensing. Environmental sustainability and social inclusion also constitute critical focal points in addressing the challenges at hand. Hence, this journal provides a comprehensive insight into the impact of FDI on Indonesia's economic growth while highlighting the issues that demand further attention. This study serves as a roadmap for policy makers, stakeholders, and researchers to formulate a more effective strategies in maximizing the benefits of FDI while addressing the challenges that arise.
