Damage-associated molecular patterns in inflammatory bowel disease: From biomarkers to therapeutic targets

Abstract: The chronic inflammatory process underlying inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), comprising Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, derives from the interplay of several components in a genetically susceptible host.
