Daily emollient throughout infancy to prevent eczema

Abstract: The first step in the development of eczema is the formation of a deficient skin barrier. We conducted a study to determine if consistent used of an emollient throughout the first year of life may prevent high-risk kids from developing eczema. We found no evidence that consistent used of an emollient during the first year of life protects eczema in high-risk kids, & some evidence that it may raise the risk of skin  infections.
