Aluja et al (1997a) found that Toxotrypana curvicauda Gerstaecker ßies moved between monocrop papaya plantations and native vegetation on a daily basis, and occurred more frequently on host trees adjacent to wooded areas. Aluja et al (1997b) almost eliminated fruit damage on encircled trees by using the insectÕs migration patterns to design a papaya planting with a border trap crop on all sides, supplemented with pheromone traps and a space between the main and trap crop.…”
