Cytogenetic analysis of foundry molders using the micronucleus frequency in exfoliated buccal mucosa

Abstract

The mean number of anomalies in foundry workers was 2.03 ± 0.13 MNC; 8.55 ± 0.26 BNC; 9.04 ± 0.13 BEC; 0.36 ± 0.09 BC, and 19.92 ± 0.03 OA; in controls it was 0.32 ± 0.03 MNC; 5.17 ± 0.03 BNC; 5.87 ± 0.09 BEC; 0.11 ± 0.13 BC, and 11.56 ± 0.08 OA; the differences for all parameters were significant. The non-occupational factors did not significantly influence the alterations.
