Cystamindi-ium tetrachlorocuprate [NH3(CH2)2SS(CH2)2NH3][CuCl4]: synthesis, crystal structure, and thermal decomposition

Abstract: The salt [NH 3 (CH 2 ) 2 SS(CH 2 ) 2 NH 3 ] [CuCl 4 ] was obtained by crystallization after adding CuCl 2 to cystamine (Cysta), solved in hydrochloric acid. The assumption of conserved disulfide connection (S-S) in the compound, made on the basis of infrared spectroscopy, is further supported by the crystal structure determined from X-ray powder diffraction data. The compound has an ionic structure. [CuCl 4 ] 2− and CystaH 2 2+ ions package in the form of inorganic and organic layers in the cell, interconnect… Show more

“…Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was conducted to identify the species in Figure S4. The N–H, S–S, C–S, C–N, and HPO 3 2– vibration peaks originated from the sample, which agreed well with previous reports. , The occurrence of the sample was further verified by their powder XRD and 1 H, 13 C, and 31 P NMR. as given in Figures S5–S8.…”

“…Single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) analyses performed at room temperature (RT) revealed 1 crystallized in a polar monoclinic space group P2 1 (2 point group) with cell parameters of a = 7.1829(5) Å, b = 7.5102(5) Å, c = 12.0187(10) Å, β = 101.159(7)°, and V = 636.09(8) Å 3 (Table S1), as determined by powder X-ray diffraction analyses in a previous study. 45 The crystal structure can be described as an organic−inorganic 2D halide perovskite structure in which the inorganic layers are composed of cornersharing CuCl 6 octahedrons and the interlayer space is occupied by the CystaH 2 2+ organic cations (Figure 1). 46−48 Similar to other Cu II Cl perovskites, 49,50 S1).…”
