Invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells are a small subset of T lymphocytes (ranging from 0.01 – 0.1% of CD3+ T cells) that share surface markers and functional characteristics with T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Unlike other T cells, they recognize glycolipid antigens presented by the MHC class-I-like protein CD1d rather than peptide antigens. In contrast to most T cells which express diverse T cell receptor (TCR) sequences, iNKT cells express a unique, highly conserved, semi-invar… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
