“…Our previous study showed that COX-2 expression was closely related to the invasion of TCCs and was marked at the invasive front of tumors [22]. This was supported by several previous studies [18][19][20][21]. Here, we showed that abnormal E-cadherin expression was more frequently observed in invasive TCCs.…”

“…Prostaglandin E 2 (PGE 2 ) is related to carcinogenesis through immunosuppression, inhibiting apoptosis, increasing the metastatic potential of epithelial cells, and promoting angiogenesis [14,15]. COX-2 overexpression was observed in various tumors as well as in bladder TCCs [16][17][18][19][20][21]. Our previous study has reported that COX-2 overexpression in bladder TCCs was significantly associated with high grade and invasion of tumors [22].…”

“…9,11,23,[54][55][56] Numerous studies have shown significant correlations between COX-2 expression and tumor grade, infiltration, metastasis, and survival. 21,24,30,40,[44][45][46]53 Concordantly, a decreased risk for urinary bladder cancer development has been seen in humans undergoing long-term nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory therapy, and in vitro and in vivo studies have suggested potential use of COX-2 inhibitors in treatment. 3,5,10,29,53 In humans and dogs, COX-2 is not expressed by normal urothelium of the urinary bladder.…”

“…Curcumin also downregulates NF-B induced COX-2 (Tunstall et al, 2006) and MMP-2 expression and inhibits cell migration (Su et al, 2006). COX-2 has been found to be overexpressed in several human cancers (Chan et al, 1999;Chun et al, 2003;Csiki et al, 2005;Heeren et al, 2005;Mascaux et al, 2005;Peng et al, 2005;Samoha and Arber, 2005;Tkacz et al, 2005;Wadhwa et al, 2005;Yasuda et al, 2005).…”
