Cyclone furnace as a way for mercury removal from lignite

Abstract: The power plants will have to meet the requirements regarding permissible Hg emission levels by 2021. A particularly unfavourable situation is observed for front of lignite, which contains more mercury than hard coal, and in addition its combustion also causes more CO2 emissions. The paper presents the proposal to use the cyclone furnace in the process of heat treatment for the process of the release of mercury from lignites. The structure and methods of operation of the cyclone furnace were presented. The pap… Show more

“…Thermal regeneration can be classified as rotary kiln, tunnel kiln, and cyclone furnace regeneration according to furnace types. Rotary kiln regeneration presents stable operation, high treatment capability, and a relatively low cost. , Cyclone furnace regeneration enables intensive feedstock mixing and offers a simple structure, high regeneration efficiency, and low investment cost. A tunnel kiln is a periodic and continuously operating furnace with long service life and high yield but may consume high energy . Microwave regeneration presents advantages, including rapid and precise temperature control and time-saving, and could maintain a better pore structure of AC .…”
