Cyclin A overexpression is associated with chemosensitivity to paclitaxel-based chemotherapy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract: Abstract. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between cyclin A expression and efficacy of paclitaxel-based chemotherapy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The expression of cyclin A was examined in 48 newly diagnosed ESCC patients prior to treatment using the MaxVision immunohistochemistry method. The patients received four cycles of paclitaxel-based chemotherapy, the short-term treatment efficacy was evaluated and a 3-year follow-up was conducted. The response rat… Show more

“…Two‐step immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay was performed as described previously , using the MaxVision™ HRP‐Polymer anti‐Rabbit IHC Kit (Fujian Maixin Biotechnologies, Fuzhou, China). Briefly, heat‐induced antigen retrieval was conducted in citrate buffer (pH = 6.0), and endogenous peroxidase activity was blocked by immersing sections in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 20 min subsequently.…”

“…We selected slices representative of the highest and most common Gleason rate and homologous FFPE specimens for use in the analysis. IHC analyses to evaluate COL6A1 expression in FFPE specimens were carried out as previously described [ 22 ]. The IHC result of COL6A1 was reviewed with respect to staining intensity and extent.…”
