Cyclic Polysulfides Fused to Polyaromatics.

Abstract: Cyclic Polysulfides Fused to Polyaromatics. -Pentathiepins fused to naphthalene or phenanthrene are prepared starting from the corresponding polycyclic thiols via dithiastannole intermediates. Destannylation affords dithiols, which give the desired polysulfides by subsequent thiation in the presence of gaseous ammonia. Interestingly, phenanthrene compound (VIII) yields additionally the five-membered polysulfide (X). -(ALAM, A.; KON-NO, M.; OGAWA, S.; SATO*, R.; Tetrahedron 63 (2007) 4, 927-933; Dep. Chem.
