“…Pre-and post-mow counts in 2018 were not correlated to the fall 2018 and spring 2019 cyclamen mite counts. Abamectin (Agri-Mek® SC) was applied at two of the three farms after the post-mow sampling, and its efficaciousness, causing 100% mortality in the laboratory (Zalom et al 2009;Fountain et al 2010), may have decoupled counts between samples taken before and after application. Cyclamen mite counts were correlated between samples collected in fall 2018, spring 2019, and pre-and post-mow 2019, and just one of three farms sprayed abamectin in spring 2019, a few weeks after sampling when counts were low.…”

“…Because they are not easily visible, early detection is arduous, and they are often discovered only when symptoms appear. Cyclamen mites live inside young folded leaves and flower buds, which shield them from most control methods, including non-systemic acaricides (Zhang 2003;Fitzgerald et al 2008;Hoy 2011). This species is mainly parthenogenetic, and females can lay an average of two eggs per day for a mean oviposition period of eight days (Easterbrook et al 2003;Alford 2007;Rostami et al 2018).…”

“…It is also banned in Canada as of 31 December 2016 (Gouvernement du Canada 2011). Since then, much research has aimed to identify other effective acaricides, but results among studies are variable and the acaricides studied only appear to provide partial control of this pest (Raudonis 2006;Gobin and Bangels 2008;Zalom et al 2009;Fountain et al 2010;Lafontaine et al 2011;Labanowska et al 2015). Therefore, finding an alternative to chemical control is essential.…”

“…Spiromesifen is primarily active against juvenile life stages and is also ovicidal, impacting lipid biosynthesis(Nauen et al 2003) Zalom et al (2009). found 35% survival of motile cyclamen mite on spiromesifen-treated leaf discs after 48 h, but the proportion of juvenile to adult motiles was not speci ed.…”
