A better understanding of human cognitive ability-demand gap (ADG) is critical in designing assistive technology solution that is accurate and adaptive over a wide range of human-agent interaction. The main goal is to design systems that can adapt with the user's abilities and needs over a range of cognitive tasks. It will also enable the system to provide feedback consistent with the situation. However, the latent structure and relationship between human ability to respond to cognitive task (demand on human by the agent) remains unknown. Robust modeling of cognitive ADG will be a paradigm shift from the current trends in assistive technology design. The key idea is to estimate the gap, based on human-agent cognitive task interaction. In particular, latent response model was adopted to quantify the gap. First, we used one parameter Rasch model and extended Rasch model (rating scale model, partial credit model) with dichotomous and polytomous responses, respectively. Residues between expected and observed ability scores were considered as gap parameter in case of dichotomous response. In extended Rasch modeling, response latitudes are considered as an indicator of the gap. Additionally, we performed model fitting, standard error measurement, kernel density estimation, and differential item functioning to test the suitability of Rasch model. Empirical analyses on a number of data set show that proposed analytical method can model the cognitive ADG from dichotomous and polytomous responses. In dichotomous case, the model better fits for mixed responses (combination of easy, medium, and hard) data set rather than monotonic (e.g., only easy) data. Results show that Rasch model can be reliably used to estimate cognitive gap with different cognitive task types. Abstract. Virtual Learning Environments are computer systems available on the internet, for the support of activities mediated by information and communication technologies. This paper focuses on the integration of real/physical elements in such environments IntroduçãoRecentemente, com o surgimento da internet, com o desenvolvimento da infraestrutura de banda larga, com e sem fio, e com o avanço no desenvolvimento de sistemas embarcados e mais rápidos, tem-se um novo cenário tecnológico mundial. O modo como as pessoas interagem com a tecnologia se modifica e começam a surgir as interfaces homem-computador avançadas, que facilitam a utilização dos computadores. Os ambientes passam a ter diversos dispositivos computacionais que influenciam de alguma maneira na vida das pessoas.Nos últimos anos, estudos têm procurado unir dois mundos que até então existiam exclusivamente em separado. Propostas de Sistemas Físico-Virtuais (CyberPhysical Systems ou CPS) começam a aparecer, buscando integrar sistemas computacionais com objetos do mundo físico [Lee, 2008].Este trabalho apresentará a plataforma Toogle, que foi desenvolvida para implementação de CPSs. A plataforma foi construída para permitir a criação e edição de ambientes que integrem os mundos físico e virtual, através de redes de sensores e atuadores, e também para propiciar a navegação do usuário por esses ambientes.

Assistive Cyberphysical Systems (ACPS) are pervasive and ubiquitous systems connecting the cyber with the physical worlds, with the aim to assist a human's daily activities both at home and at work. We present an event driven framework with event identification mechanisms that drive actuators, transform a substrate and alter human behavior in a feedback loop process that allows a human to control her ACPS. This framework is a dynamic, context aware, adaptive, self-repairing and high-confidence system that couples computational power with physical substrate (testbed) control and command; it monitors human activities with differential privacy and security capabilities, recognizes events, human needs from lifestyle, and processes environmental and longitudinal health data.
