Abstract:Zur (zinc uptake regulator) proteins are the most widespread bacterial zinc‐sensing transcriptional regulators, being encoded in the majority of sequenced bacterial genomes. They work predominantly as transcriptional repressors of zinc uptake genes when zinc in a bacterium's environment is abundant.
