CW Measurement of Sound Velocity Difference in Two Liquids

Abstract: A technique for measuring the sound velocity difference in two liquids which makes use of interdigital transducers is developed. There exists a linear relationship between the sound velocity difference in two liquids and the phase difference of two delayed output signals, which is converted to a dc voltage by using a phase comparation technique. A prototype with an 10.0 MHz input signal and three times reflections at the liquid cavity surface is fabricated and tested successfully.
