“…It is difficult to distinguish a hemangioma from spongiosum tissue. There is still controversy about whether penile hemangiomas are true neoplasms or result from the herniation of the corpus spongiosum or from vascularization caused by a hematoma or thrombus [7][8][9][10]. It is generally considered that penile hemangiomas are mulberry-sized, purple, elevated, compressible lesions that are often associated with a defect in the underlying tunica albuginea.…”

“…Nd:YAG laser treatment has been reported to be effective and safe; however, it is associated with a high risk of scarring and a high incidence of recurrence 10,11 . Sclerotherapy has recently been reported as a good option in the treatment of vascular malformations and has provided excellent aesthetic and functional results even for lesions situated on the glans 4–7 . Direct intralesional injection of a sclerosing agent makes it possible to obliterate blood vessels by local endothelial destruction, with sludging of red blood cells and subsequent thrombosis, eventually leading to intimal fibrosis.…”

[4][5][6][7] Direct intralesional injection of a sclerosing agent makes it possible to obliterate blood vessels by local endothelial destruction, with sludging of red blood cells and subsequent thrombosis, eventually leading to intimal fibrosis. In compliant patients, it can be safely performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis, as in the case reported here.…”
