Customized meta-waveguide for phase and absorption

Abstract: We propose a meta-waveguide, a component based on metamaterials and waveguides, to customize the phase and absorption of devices. This meta-waveguide integrated quasi-periodic metamaterial resonators with film resistors in the inner wall of the waveguide. The phase and absorption at multiple specified frequency points can be changed regularly by adjusting the resonators and film resistors. We analyzed the meta-waveguide structure and derived a transcendental equation, which revealed the physical mechanism of p… Show more

“…Several studies have shown that mitochondrial dynamics are required for lifespan extension in different long-lived conditions (Burkewitz et al, 2015;Weir et al, 2017;Zhang et al, 2019e), demonstrating their important roles in the aging process. Indeed, altered mitochondrial dynamics, such as defective mitochondrial fission, have been linked with cellular senescence (Yu et al, 2020a). Due to direct regulation by mitochondrial fusionfission dynamics, changes in mitochondrial morphology have also been reported to be associated with aging.…”

“…Based on the equivalent medium theory [39,40], periodically arranged I-shaped resonators can be regarded as an equivalent homogeneous ferrite layer, as illustrated in Figure 4b. According to Maxwell's equations and previous research [37,38,41], transverse electromagnetic fields within the waveguide induce currents throughout the I-shaped resonators. These induced currents stimulate an induced magnetic field, and the magnetic field's intensity |H ind | is determined by the dimensions of the metallic and thin-film resistors.…”

“…In our previous work [41], the authors demonstrated that the phase constant β of a metamaterial waveguide, based on the equivalented ferrite-dielectric-gold laminated structure, is correlated with the induced magnetic field intensity |H ind |. Meanwhile, the intensity of the induced magnetic field is determined by the dimensions of the metallic and thin-film resistors within the I-shaped resonators.…”

“…In general, satellite antennas should have high efficiency, high mechanical strength, good thermal conductivity and excellent irradiation resistance. The all-metal waveguide antenna is a good candidate to meet all of the above requirements and it also has the advantages of large bandwidth and pure polarization [3,4].…”
