“…2 Considering the toxicity of heavy metal ions, it is crucial to develop rapid, accurate and convenient targeting surveillance and assay to create an early warning system that can protect both the environment and public health. 6 So far, numerous functional materials including nanomaterials, 7–9 polymers 10–12 and porous materials 13,14 have been used as probes for the detection of heavy metal ions and have shown satisfying performance in many settings. 15 However, there are certain limitations when using these materials as probes.…”

“…The accumulation of trace heavy metals in the human body can cause severe damage to human organs. 1 In the rapidly developing modern industrial society, the issue of heavy metal pollutants in the water environment is becoming increasingly serious. Lead ions (Pb 2+ ) are heavy metal ions that jeopardize public life safety, and their contamination of drinking water is of particular concern because lead accumulates in the human body after prolonged exposure, thereby jeopardizing neurological, reproductive, renal, and cardiovascular health.…”

“…[33][34][35][36][37][38] Research in environmental applications of fluorescent molecules has led to notable examples. For instance, Li et al 39 provided a comprehensive review summarizing the use of fluorescent probes for sensing and removing heavy metal ions. The review highlighted the diverse range of functional materials employed in these processes, including nanomaterials, polymers, porous materials, and biomaterials.…”
