Abstract: Methamphetamine (MA) is a drug that is widely used in many parts of the world. It has multiple neurobiological impacts on the nervous system, some of which are transitory and some more long lasting. MA activates the reward system of the brain and produces effects that are highly reinforcing, which can lead to abuse and dependence. “…MA withdrawal is characterized by fatigue, anhedonia, depression, and enhanced craving for MA (Rawson, 2013; Ren et al, 2015). In humans, regardless of the route of administration, MA has a long plasma half-life of 9–12 h, whereas subjective effects diminish after 4 h (Cho et al, 2001; Cruickshank and Dyer, 2009).…”

Therefore, the provision of educational programs is suggested for this group.…”

“…Methamphetamine (MA) abuse is a growing health problem worldwide, and there has been an increase in the number of medical complications and fatalities associated with the toxicity of MA (1,2). A previous study (3) reported that the widest distribution and the highest uptake of MA in the human body occurred in the lungs, and that this may render the lungs vulnerable to infection, pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary edema (3,4).…”
