Photovoltaic (PV) panels have a crucial role in coping with the global warming mitigation and the energetic crisis currently affecting the European Community. However, from the circular perspective of end-of-life (EoL) management, there are still big issues to be solved in order to recover materials from this kind of e-wastes. Because of several reasons (e.g. type of embedded materials, illegal shipments, location of manufacturers) EoL businesses do not have the interest in approaching them. This poses a significant environmental concern in terms of their management. This work wants to assess the profitability of a specific PV module recycling plant, by evaluating several market contexts in which multiple scenarios of material price, investment and process costs will be considered. The results for a 3000 tonnes plant show that profitability is not verified in the absence of an avoided landfill cost. Instead, when a value of 200 €/tonnes is applied, the net present value is positive in 35.2% of the scenarios and at 87.6% when a value of 350 €/tonnes is considered. The policy choice of this value requires linking the PV module disposal fee to the circular benefits associated with its recovery.

The global deployment of solar power has accelerated, particularly in Bangladesh, due to the energy crisis, escalating vitality requests and commitments related to climate change. The nation’s capacity for on-grid and off-grid solar energy has more than quadrupled in just five years, rising from 300 MWP in 2000-2017 to 730 MWP in 2018-2022. This caused the production of 14 TWh of electricity which results 7 million tonnes CO2 emission reduction over time. However, this growth has certainly also resulted in the production of significant amounts of solar photovoltaic (PV) waste which is increasing over the coming years, becoming an enormous threat to waste management system. Human and ecological risks allied with this instinctive depositing of PV waste, urging the need to design a successful plan to manage this new stream of waste. In order to comprehend the situation on the ground and identify difficulties and constraints that prevent the adoption of a regularized policy for its management, this study reviews the literature on Bangladesh’s PV waste management sector. The country is technically capable of PV waste recycling which returns economic worth of USD 65.8 million and CO2 emission reduction 63 million tonnes. Finally, to assess the framework’s functionality, a SWOT analysis has performed.

Reducing carbon dioxide emissions and achieving climate neutrality is one of the main challenges nowadays. In this regard, the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is the goal of energy planning in various countries worldwide. The Republic of Serbia announced a draft ntegrated National Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2030 with the projections up to 2050, in response to both the global aspiration and the Paris Agreement. Yet, since cities utilize more than 75% of primary energy globally, they should be considered when it comes to long-term energy planning at the national level. Achieving climate-neutral cities requires time and extensive analysis of energy potential. This paper aims to implement a SWOT analysis of planning the future energy system, with a case study of the city of Kragujevac. The paper outlines all the benefits and factors that can help stakeholders on the road to a climate-neutral city and any potential drawbacks. The utilized SWOT analysis was done in accordance with all available data and it results in the presentation of current energy needs and an insight into possible future directions of energy development of the City of Kragujevac concerning national and local energy policy-
