Current bibliography of urban history

Abstract

This bibliography is a continuation of and a complement to those published in UHY 1974-87. It aims to provide as comprehensive a coverage of recently published British books as possible. The material is augmented by scanning a wide range of periodicals and by the selections of material sent by our foreign correspondents. We are extremely grateful to them all for the valuable contribution they make. This year we are particularly indebted to Monsieur Pierre Costa (France), Dr Elizabeth Bloomfield (Canada), Dr G-M Van der Waal (South Africa), Dr Alan Mayne (Australia), Dr David Reeder (periodicals) and Mrs Jill Voyce. We are aware that every year some relevant items are overlooked and wherever possible we try to incorporate them in later years. We hope that the compilers will be notified of omissions so that deficiencies in coverage can be remedied. The arrangement and format follows that of previous years. Cross-references are provided wherever necessary and there is an index of towns on pp 168-70.
