Current and evolving trends in the management of facial fractures

Abstract

The oral and maxillofacial region has a complex regional anatomy including hard and soft tissues. Trauma in this region may affect the airway, cause potentially life threatening bleeding and head injuries. The senses of olfaction, sight and hearing can also be disrupted as well as a profound psychological impact following disfigurement. This oral and maxillofacial trauma update provides information on demographics, incidence, pathophysiology, diagnosis, fracture patterns and management of facial trauma. It also discusses the role of new advancements in the management of facial trauma.

Retrospective Analysis of the Structures of Traumatic Damages in the Maxillofacial Area in Lviv in the Period from 2016 to 2018

“…больных диагностировано перелом нижней челюсти, перелом верхней челюстив 115(5,9 %) больных, переломы верхней и нижней челюстив 30 (1,6 %) больных, скуловых дуг и скуловых костейв 239 (12,4 %) больных, перелом костей носау 19 (0,9 %) больных. У пациентов с переломами нижней челюсти диагностированы переломы различной локализации: по средней линии нижней челюсти -115 (4,5 % в структуре травматических повреждений нижней челюсти) случаев, в ментальной области -278(15,4 %) случаев, в области тела нижней челюсти -352 (20,2 %) случаев, угла -691 (42,4 %) случаев, ветви -98 (3,6 %) случаев, венечного отростка -81 (2,5 %) случаев, суставного отростка -317 (11,4 %) случаев. За период исследования существенно увеличилось количество больных с переломами в области угла и суставного отростка.…”

Endoscopic endonasal open reduction for fractures of the frontal process of the maxilla

Efficacy of microplates versus miniplates in the management of maxillofacial fractures
