Curing Expensive Mistakes: Applying Ism on Employees’ Emotional Behaviors in Environment of Mergers

Abstract: Aim of the study is to apply ISM on disordered chaotic hierarchy of employees’ emotional behaviors that result in failed mergers. It is an exploratory research that uses in depth literature review for identification of behaviors, ISM for exploring causal relations, analyzing interactions & prioritizing them and MICMAC analysis for classifying them on the basis of their driving-dependence power. Findings revealed that: there are total eighteen employees’ emotional behaviors, having four levels hierarchy whe… Show more

“…There are different techniques for finalizing the variables for study, and there is a wide variety of eliciting the data from respondents (Shaukat et al, 2021 ). According to ISM norms, primary data is collected from a pre-constituted panel of experts (Niazi et al, 2019a , b ). As the data related to this study did not exist, forming the panel of experts is appropriate for keeping the concept of model exchange isomorphism.…”

“…Visits were being done after taking an appointment on calls to the experts. There are different methods of practically eliciting the data from people’s minds (Niazi et al 2019a , b ; Qazi et al 2020 ). We stimulated the data on VAXO-based matrix using face-to-face, one-on-one method.…”

“…There are numerous methods to elicit data from a panel of experts, e.g., Delphi method, brainstorming session, discussion session, nominal group technique (NGT), repertory-grid interview technique (RGT), matrix type questionnaire, laddering interview, problem-solving group session, in-depth discussion, face-to-face in-depth interview, triadic sorting task approach, approval voting on alternatives (VAXO) for every pair of relations through software/questionnaire, workshop, and idea engineering or idea generation method with small group exercise ( Baruah and Paulus, 2008 ; Niazi et al, 2020 , 2019b ). This study uses face-to-face approval VAXO for every pair of relations through matrix type (i.e., ( n ( n −1))/2 matrix) questionnaire to capture the mental model of the expert without loss of original data ( Supplementary Annexure 2 ).…”
