Curative effects of microneedle fractional radiofrequency system on skin laxity in Asian patients: A prospective, double-blind, randomized, controlled face-split study

Abstract: MFRS is an effective method to improve skin laxity. Thermal lesion approach seems to provide better outcomes when applied to deep dermal layers. It is necessary to consider the skin thickness of different facial regions when choosing the treatment depth.

“…These findings may be related to the higher Glogau scores of our patients. Despite the higher depth parameters, the side effect profile in the present study was the same as that According to authors, the overall improvement was better on the deep penetration side (Lu et al, 2017). In our study, we applied the RF (Kołodziejczak & Rotsztejn, 2017).…”

“…The penetrating depth of microneedles was 0.8 mm in the periorbital region on the deep side and 0.5 mm on the superficial side. According to authors, the overall improvement was better on the deep penetration side (Lu et al, ). In our study, we applied the RF treatment at deeper penetration on the lower third of the face and achieved good clinical results, even in the patients with Glogau type III and IV skin types.…”

“…More recently, fractional RF devices using microneedles were developed to deliver more heat to deeper skin tissues while reducing the risk of side effects such as thermal burns. With fractional RF devices and microneedle RF electrodes, one can deliver focused RF energy and control the depth, area, and intensity of treatment . Fractional RF devices with microneedle RF electrodes can therefore be applied for non‐invasive treatment of wrinkles, skin laxity, atrophic scars, and acne scars .…”
