Cuproptosis scoring system to predict the clinical outcome and immune response in bladder cancer

Abstract: Cuproptosis is a novel copper ion-dependent cell death type being regulated in cells, and this is quite different from the common cell death patterns such as apoptosis, pyroptosis, necroptosis, and ferroptosis. Interestingly, like with death patterns, cuproptosis-related genes have recently been reported to regulate the occurrence and progression of various tumors. However, in bladder cancer, the link between cuproptosis and clinical outcome, tumor microenvironment (TME) modification, and immunotherapy is unkn… Show more

“…Also, the algorithm downweights attributions that do not track other set members. Followed by obtaining the prognostic value of each gene, the cuproptosisScore was defined with principal components 1 and 2, similar to the gene expression grade index (GGI) (50,51): cuproptosisScore = ∑(PC1 i + PC2 i ). PC1 i and PC2 i represent the expression score of each intersecting gene in two dimensions, respectively.…”

“…In addition, the cuproptosis-related risk score could divide liver cancer patients into two groups with differences in mutation status and responded to target therapy in different ways ( Zhang et al, 2022 ). Furthermore, cuproptosis patterns were able to predict immunotherapy responses in bladder cancer patients ( Song et al, 2022 ). A previous study proved that cuproptosis plays an essential role in glioma growth and progression ( Buccarelli et al, 2021 ).…”
