Cupaniol, a New Branched Polyprenol, from Cupania latifolia.

Abstract

Terpenes U 0200Cupaniol, a New Branched Polyprenol, from Cupania latifolia. -Chromatographic separation of the Et-O-Ac soluble part of the Me-OH extract of the leaves of C. latifolia (Sapindaceae) affords cupaniol (I), which can be regarded as a higher homologue of lavandulol. Its structure is determined on the basis of spectral analysis and conversion to a known compound. In addition to cupaniol, ficaprenol 12, αand β-tocopherols, β-amyrin, and taraxerol are also isolated from the Et-OAc soluble fraction, whereas (-)-epicatechin and proanthocyanidin A2 are isolated from the Et-OAc insoluble fraction of the MeOH extract. -(SAKANE, W.; HARA, N.; FUJIMOTO*, Y.; TAKAISHI, Y.; ACUNA, R.; OSORIO, C.; DUQUE, C.; Chem.
