Abstract:Dona YáYá, ou Sebastiana de Mello Freire (1887 - 1961) conheceu a riqueza material ao nascer na alta burguesia do Estado de São Paulo e posteriormente a pobreza moral quando confinada em casa por 36 anos (1925-1961), diagnosticada como 'psicose esquizofrênica', como relatava a linguagem médica da época.
