Culture-Independent Multiplexed Detection of Drug-Resistant Bacteria Using Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering

Abstract: The rapid and accurate detection of bacteria resistance to β-lactam antibiotics is critical to inform optimal treatment and prevent overprescription of potent antibiotics. Here, we present a fast, culture-independent method for the detection of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).
