The experiences of African American and Hispanic students remain at the forefront of higher education in discourse of student success and retention. The aforementioned populations are faced with many competing challenges and roadblocks related to academics and situations of discrimination. African American and Hispanic faculty have been identified as a resource for assisting these student populations in navigating the waves and waters during their academic journey. Given the varied and very specific needs of the African American and Hispanic. This chapter will highlight the role of meeting the needs of students of color and the challenges that African American and Hispanic faculty face in this endeavor.
