Cultural Lag, the Status Quo, and Teacher Education

Abstract: In this article a sociologist looks at the responsibility of teacher education in re lation to the imbalance between social and technological advance. He sees the preparation of the teacher as the key to progress both in the material and in the nonmaterial essentials of Western civili zation. Mr. Lenn is Assistant Professor of Sociology, Teachers College of Connecti cut. He was visiting Assistant Professor of Educational Sociology, New York Univer sity, Summer of 1950.
