“…5,6 Recently, various electroactive wound dressings have been developed, including conductive nano-bers, 7,8 conductive hydrogels, 9,10 piezoelectric patches, 11,12 and micro-battery dressings. 13,14 Among them, the micro-battery dressings impregnate electrochemically coupled metals on the fabric, and electric stimulation (ES) is generated when a conductive medium (wound's exudate, blood, etc.) wets the coupled metals on the matrix.…”

“…The enhancement of ion release by applying dissimilar metals was already tested for antibacterial applications; 43 more concrete strategies are embedding Cu NPs and Ag NPs inside the polymeric matrix 44 or utilizing magnetron sputtering for preparation of galvanic couples of more noble Cu with less noble Zn to fight the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. 45 Similarly, the enhanced release of Zn ions by adding Ag was also successfully tested against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia (E.) coli. 46 This paper focuses on developing coatings based on the galvanic corrosion of copper induced by NPs, to create novel virucidal textiles as promising materials for air filtering and personal protection.…”

“…This process is accompanied by electron flow from a less noble metal to a more noble metal, while the cations of less noble metal are released to the electrolyte; such a process of fast electrode dissolution is called galvanic corrosion. “…Zhu et al added Ag NPs to the spinning solution to provide antibacterial properties for nanofiber air filters . However, the environmental hazards of the chemicals used in the synthesis of nanoparticles have raised concerns about their widespread use. , In recent years, electrical stimulation has been a great attraction for scientific academia due to its eco-friendly, efficient antibacterial activities and wide applicability. Recently, based on a set of the oxidation–reduction reaction that occurred when the Ag/Zn electrodes contact the blood or wound extrudate, our research group has developed several hydro electroactive antibacterial biomaterials by magnetron sputtering. , Inspired by this, although a PP-based medical mask’s charge dissipation can be severely accelerated by human breath, Ag/Zn electrodes may be activated by the water vapor exhaled by the human body and may generate electroactive antibacterial properties. Therefore, this encouraged us to investigate the application of hydro electroactive Ag/Zn materials in the personal protective mask used in a high humidity environment.…”
