Cu2+-BTC based metal–organic framework: a redox accessible and redox stable MOF for selective and sensitive electrochemical sensing of acetaminophen and dopamine

Abstract: A Cu2+ plus benzenetricarboxylate (BTC) based ‘3D’ metal–organic framework HKUST-1 was synthesized via a facile microwave assisted route.

“…Diffusion controlled kinetics was observed for Cu MOF modified ITO electrode [60]. Similar diffusion controlled behaviour of Cu MOF is also reported by Sofi et al [46]. Since we are monitoring Cu MOF signal for detection of CIP, repetitive CV scans of Cu MOF/GC in 0.1 M PBS (pH 8) at scan rate of 0.1 V/s were recorded to check stability of signal ( figure S2).…”

“…24,25 Recently, Li et al 22 and F.A. Sofi et al 26 described the development of a glassy carbon electrode modified with HKUST-1 as a sensitive electrochemical sensor for the determination of dopamine, an important neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system, using Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV). They managed to detect the targeted analyte in a wide range of concentrations ranging between 5.0 × 10 −7 -1.0 × 10 −4 M and 12.5 × 10 −6 -175 × 10 −6 M, respectively, with an estimated detection limit of 1.5 × 10 −7 M and 0.11 × 10 −9 M, respectively.…”
