CT, MRI, and F-18 FDG PET for the detection of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

Abstract: Background:Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a rare cancer in lung carcinomas and has been widely known as a difficult curable disease among all the tumors. However, early detection of malignant potential in patients with NSCLC has still been a huge challenge all around the world. CT, MRI, and F-18 FDG PET are all considered as good tests for diagnosing malignant NSCLC efficiently, but no recommended suggestion presents that which test among the 3 is the prior one in diagnose. We perform this study through… Show more

“…Lung cancer represents the leading cause of cancer death and its treatment rely on different strategies, often used in combination, such as radiotherapy, surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy [ 58 , 59 , 60 , 61 ]. Medical imaging is pivotal in all the different phases of lung cancer management, from diagnosis to the evaluation of the efficacy of different approaches, as well as in the subsequent follow-up [ 62 , 63 , 64 , 65 , 66 , 67 , 68 , 69 ].…”

“…Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), a noninvasive imaging technique, is widely used in the diagnosis and staging of pulmonary nodules (3,4). The maximum standard uptake value (SUV max ) is a key semiquantitative parameter for PET that measures the metabolic activity of a lesion.…”

“…The network structure in the RUNet was composed of the segmentation network based on the U-Net structure and the network multilevel boundary detection. End-to-end training and learning were supplemented into the same network structure, as segmentation and boundary positioning were realized [ 19 , 20 ]. The jumper connection strategy is widely used in U-Net, residual net, and dense net.…”
