CT coronary angiography findings in non-atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases

Abstract: Non-atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases are being increasingly recognised as causes of acute coronary events. Invasive coronary angiography frequently fails to identify the abnormalities in the proximal course of coronary arteries and coronary wall, while computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) allows for acquisition of more detailed information. CTCA serves as a reliable method for evaluating patients with non-atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases. The purpose of this article is to provide an … Show more

“…This variation might increase the risk of a major cardiac event, due to potential hemodynamic compromise. This prevalence is similar to previous reports [10,11]. Additionally, it is worthwhile to notice that approximately one third of the patients had an additional anomalous coronary branching pattern.…”

“…It has become the primary noncommunicable disease threatening global public health. The World Health Organization (WHO) global noncommunicable status report predicts that by 2030, the number of deaths from cardiovascular diseases will reach 22.2 million every year [ 1 , 2 ]. Coronary heart disease is a heart disease caused by atherosclerotic lesions in the coronary artery, resulting in stenosis or obstruction of the vascular cavity, myocardial ischemia, hypoxia, or necrosis [ 3 ].…”

“…1 Until now, CCTA is one of the important achievements on CT technology in the past decade, which provides a convenient method for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. 2 Coronary computed tomography angiography was proved to have a high negative predictive value. Coronary computed tomography angiography plays an important role as a less invasive investigation of coronary atherosclerotic heart (CAD) disease proved by its high negative predictive value, which also decreases the necessity of invasive digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for CAD diagnosis.…”
