Cs4PbI6-Cl Nucleation Seeds Assisted Highly-Oriented Inorganic CsPbI3 Perovskites for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells

Abstract: Inorganic cesium lead triiodide (CsPbI3) perovskites show high potential for photovoltaic applications due to their suitable bandgap and excellent thermal stability. However, the photovoltaic performance of CsPbI3 perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is significantly restricted by unsatisfactory crystal quality and serious nonradiative recombination. Herein, chloride additives, such as dimethylammonium chloride (DMACl), ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), and methylammonium chloride (MACl), are applied to ameliorate the cryst… Show more

“…We assign these reflections to 1D DMAPbI 3 (11.6°) and 0D Cs 4 PbI 6 (11.9° and 12.1°) perovskite intermediate phases. [ 30,32,33 ] The presence of these two intermediate phases, which have been reported in the literature as precursors of black CsPbI 3 when the latter is prepared via the DMAI approach, indicates an incomplete conversion of the precursors to β‐CsPbI 3 . [ 22,29,30,34 ] Figure 1c displays the evolution of the phases during the annealing of CsPbI 3 .…”

“…As presented in Figure 7F, the HACl 2 -based PSC yields an EQE EL of 0.0363% under an injection current density of approximately 20.8 mA cm −2 , which is much higher in comparison with that of the control PSC (EQE EL = 0.0018%) and the PEACl-based PSC (EQE EL = 0.0042%). According to these important results, we determined the reduced nonradiative recombination loss (ΔV OC,nonrad ) contributing to the V OC increase (ΔV OC ) based on the following formula 63 :…”
