Crystal structure of isocalamendiol, C15H26O2, from Baccharis marginalis

Abstract: Source of materialPlant material (aerial part) of Baccharis marginalis were collected in preandine areas of de Fray Jorge Valley (IV Región, Coquimbo). Fresh plant material (12 kg) was extracted with CH 2Cl2 for 2 h at room temperature. The crude extract was obtained after evaporate of the solvent and fractionated by flash chromatography (silica, petrol/EtOAc mixts of increasing polarity). The combined fractions of 20 % and 30 % left a white powder, the spectroscopic properties were identical with isocalamendi… Show more

“…156 The structure of isocalamendiol has been determined by Xray analysis. 157 This technique has also been applied to the determination of the absolute configuration of (−)-3-hydroxy-acalacorene 178. 158 6-Methoxygossypol and 6,6 -dimethoxygossypol have been obtained from the seed and root bark from a cotton variety growing on St. Vincent island.…”
