Crystal structure of a host–guest complex between mephedrone hydrochloride and a tetraphosphonate cavitand

Abstract: The molecular recognition properties of the tetraphosphonate cavitand Tiiii[C3H7,CH3,C6H5] towards mephedrone hydrochloride, an illicit drug belonging to the amphetamine family, have been analysed in the solid state through the detailed analysis of the crystal and molecular structure of the resulting supramolecular compound, and in solution via NMR studies.
