“…These experimental and theoretical investigations not only enhanced the giant MCE properties, but eventually help to understand the correlation among structure‐composition‐physical properties . In particular, various cationic and anionic elemental substitution have been attempted, and some of the results of those trials include the Gd 5‐ x Y x Tt 4 (Tt = Si, Ge; 0 ≤ x ≤ 4), Gd 5‐ x RE x Ge 4 (RE = La, Lu; 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.4 for La, x = 0.125, 0.25 for Lu), Gd 5‐ x Eu x Ge 4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 2), Gd 5‐ x M x Tt 4 ( M = Zr, Hf; Tt = Si, Ge; 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 5), La 5‐ x Y x Si 4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 5), and RE 5‐ x Mg x Ge 4 (RE = Gd‐Tm, Lu, Y; 1.0 ≤ x ≤ 2.3) systems for cation substitution, and Gd 5 Si 1.5 Ge 2.5 , the Gd 5 Ge 4‐ x Si x (0 ≤ x ≤ 3), Gd 5 Ge 4‐ x Ga x (0 ≤ x ≤ 2.2), and Gd 5 Si 4‐ x Sn x (0 ≤ x ≤ 3) systems for anion substitutions.
