Crystal Structure and Luminescent Properties of Diverse Cadmium(II) Coordination Polymers Based on A Semirigid Multicarboxylate Ligand

Abstract: [H 3 L = 3-(3-carboxyphenoxy) phthalic acid, 4,4Ј-bpy = 4,4Ј-bipyridine, 2,2Ј-bpy = 2,2Ј-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline], were synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, and IR spectroscopy. Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that complexes 1-3 have different one-dimensional (1D) chain structures including zigzag chain, ladder chain, and helical chain,

“…The emission bands for 5-meo-H 2 ip and 5-pro-H 2 ip are centered at 384 nm ( λ ex = 310 nm) and 386 nm ( λ ex = 310 nm), and the emission bands for bmip and bip are centered at 412 nm ( λ ex = 340 nm) and 408 nm ( λ ex = 340 nm). Based on previous literatures, these emissions of free organic ligands are mainly derived from intraligand π *→ π / n electronic transitions [ 23 ]. Notably, the luminescence intensity of dicarboxylate ligands is much weaker than that of the bmip and bip ligands, indicating that the dicarboxylate ligands contribute little to the luminescence of compounds.…”

“…Up to now, a variety of coordination compounds have been effective prepared using mixed ligands such as multicarboxylate acids and flexible ligands in the same system. For the carboxylate acids and the flexible ligands there are a lot of coordination or connection modes, which show different coordination arrangements with various central transition metal atoms 14. Besides, the resulting compounds have flexible coordination environment,5,6 fascinating structures7,8 and potential roles in multifunctional luminescent materials,9,10 magnetic materials,11 gas storage12 and catalysis13.…”
