Crystal structure and fluorescence/phosphorescence of two novel Cd(II) coordination polymers

Abstract: Two novel Cd(II) coordination polymers [Cd 4 (C 6 H 4 O 2 N) 8 (H 2 O) 4 ] n (1) and [Cd 2 (C 10 H 2 O 8 )(H 2 O) 6 ] n (2) have been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and structurally characterized. Crystal data: (1), orthorhombic, Pbca, a = 11.4494(19)(2), triclinic, P1, a = 5.5962(7) Å, b = 7.7758(6) Å, c = 9.6975(10) Å, α = 111.981(5) • , β = 101.649(6) • , γ = 98.240(5) • , V = 371.95(7) Å 3 , Z = 2, D calc = 2.603 g·cm −3 . Complex (1) possesses threedimensional infinite structure, while complex (… Show more

“…BTC is with up to eight potential O atom donors, which can adopt different coordination modes in different chemical environments. In comparable structures, BTC can connect metal centers in l 2 , l 4 , l 5 , l 6 and l 8 mode in the presence of different secondary ligands [24][25][26][27][28].…”

“…Through investigation the reported literatures, we found there are numerous M-btec metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) [13,14,23,24] 4 ]·4H 2 O} n have been found in the literature. [15,[27][28][29][30][31] In addition, the 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate groups in these complexes exhibit eight different coordination modes (Scheme S1 I-VIII). The coordination mode of btec 4− ligand in 1 presents a new type (Scheme S1 IX) in M-btec MOFs, probably due to the different preparation conditions.…”

“…[15,[27][28][29][30][31] So we investigated the solid-state emission spectrum of complex 1. As illustrated in Figure 4, complex 1 exhibits the luminescence with emission maximum at 432 nm upon excitation at 326 nm.…”

“…Transition metal coordination compounds or clusters are currently of great interest for their potential applications as novel molecular luminescent materials [123][124][125]. Niu et al [126] describe in the next article their study on the crystal structure and fluorescence/phosphorescence of two novel Cd(II) coordination polymers, [Cd 4 (C 6 are nicotinic and 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acids, respectively. The former complex has a three-dimensional infinite structure.…”
