“…Figures 4-8 gives the emission curve of the pure BGO and the doped BGO. As figure 4 shows, before irradiation, the emission curve of the W:BGO crystal shows much stronger peak at about 500 nm (which is consistent with our former work [15]), while the PL spectra of Mg:BGO and Ca:BGO exhibit weaker peaks than that of pure BGO at the same wavelength (the emission are all excited by 283 nm Xe lamp). It was revealed that there is positive influence to the scintillation of BGO by doping with W. EPR measurements show that transition metal impurities often go into the tetrahedrally coordinated Ge site, and the radius is 0. , the lattice distortion of Ca:BGO should be much larger), so the quantity of Bi 3+ will be possibly less than that of Mg:BGO, logically, the emission intensity of Ca:BGO is weaker than that of Mg:BGO.…”

“…Nowadays, many researchers are devoting to researching and optimizing the existing scintillation crystals [1][2][3][4], and also developing new scintillators such as Y 2 Si 2 O 7 :Ce, Gd 2 Si 2 O 7 :Ce and MgWO 4 [5][6][7]. Nevertheless, there are still many novel crystals deserved to be developed.…”

“…Such conditions allow for more stable and faster crystal growth [23][24][25][26][27][28]. Furthermore, the size of the grown crystals by the optical floating zone method is usually suitable for experimental measurements [29][30][31][32]. To the best of our knowledge, no report on the growth of MgNb 2 O 6 single crystals by the floating zone method has been published.…”
