Crystal and molecular structure of diiodo-N,N,N?,N?-tetramethylthiuramdisulphidemercury(II)

Abstract: The crystal and m olecular structure o f diiodo-N jN .N '.N '-tetram ethylthiuram disulphidem ercuryQ I), H gI2(S2C N (C H 3)2)2, has been determ ined by a three-dimensional X -ray analysis. The com pound crystallizes in the m onoclinic space group P 2 i/c w ith the unit cell dimensions a = 7-957 ± 4 , b = 22-639 ± 7 , c = 9-956 ± 6 A and /} = 112-14 ± 5°;Z = 4. Intensities were obtained w ith an autom atic diffractometer. T he structural param eters were refined by least-squares m ethods to a conventional R f… Show more

“…The terminal Hg-I bond lengths are the same as those found in H gl2(tds) (Beurskens et al, 1971) and in [S(CH3)3 ]2Hgl4 (Fenn, 1966). The bridging bond lengths are significantly longer, as is to be expected.…”

“…Notable, those changes are more evident for basil planted in mineral soil A as compared to organic soil B with higher buffering capacity. Additionally, migration of metals may be influenced by the formation of sparingly water-soluble metal-fungicide complexes (Beurskens et al 1971 ; Zhao et al 2003 ). In particular, the latter are presumable responsible for the high manganese uptake and translocation in plants cultivated on mineral soil A. Thiuram impact on metal migration is highly dependent on its persistence and activity in soil.…”
