Crude and Cause-Specific Mortality Rates in the Republic of Bashkortostan in the Period From 2018 to 2020

Abstract

Significance. Mortality rate is an important indicator of health and presence of negative factors affecting health. Emergency situations result in a significant deterioration of health, including epidemics of infectious diseases. The purpose of the study is to analyze crude and cause-specific mortality rates in the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2018-2020. Material and methods. The main source of information was form No. C-51 “Distribution of the deceased by sex, age and causes of death” of the Territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2018-2020. Results. In 2018-2020, the mortality rate in the Republic of Bashkortostan increased from 1243.2 to 1495.6 per 100 000 population (by 20.3%), including by 18.3% among males and 22.1%. among females. In the crud mortality structure, the share of diseases of the endocrine system increased from 4.2% to 5.8%, diseases of the respiratory system - from 5.6% to 13.1%, diseases of the musculoskeletal system - from 0.5% to 1.3 %, and symptoms, signs and ill-defined conditions - from 3.0% to 8.1%. Among diseases of the respiratory system, the share of pneumonia increased up to 71.3%, being higher among females. The average age at death decreased by one year; increase in crude mortality was more pronounced among the urban population (an 24.5% increase) compared to the rural population (by 15.0%). Conclusions. In 2018-2020, the Republic of Bashkortostan reported increased mortality with the average age at death decreasing by one year in 2020; mortality among the urban population is 1.3 times higher compared to the rural population.
